What We Believe

Note: The following is not to be considered a creed or even a statement of faith. God's inspired pattern for the local church is to have only His word as its guide. Any commentary by man - including the following - is fallible and it not to be referred to as a source of truth or doctrine.

1. There is a God, and He created us with purpose.
2. Jesus Christ is the Way, Truth, and Life.
3. The Bible is God's inspired and authoritative word.
4. We can come to a common understanding in the Scriptures.
5. Salvation is by God's grace, but is conditional to our faith and obedience.
6. Christians must live faithfully to maintain fellowship and salvation.
7. We are bound as churches and individuals to follow Scriptural patterns.

1. There is a God, And He Created Us With Purpose

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” (Gen. 1:1)

The world we live in did not come about by random chance or natural forces. It was the design of a loving God who desires a relationship with His most prized creation - mankind. However, man rebelled against his Creator, bringing sin and death into the world (Rom. 5:12). Man continues to rebel even today, yet God patiently endures in the hope that we might turn back and find His love and grace that lead to eternal salvation (2 Pet. 3:8-10).

“Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all.” (Eccl. 12:13)

The world we live in is not eternal. However, God created within each of us an eternal spirit (or soul) that will continue on long after this world is gone (Mt. 16:26). This is our real purpose, our eternal purpose. We view each day and all its blessings as a gift from God and do our very best to shine His truth and love to the world around us using the talents and strengths He has uniquely created us with (Mt. 5:16).

2. Jesus Christ is the Way, Truth, and Life

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (Jn. 14:6)

When this world comes to an end and all its works are burned up, we will all be judged (2 Cor. 5:10). If it were up to our own strength, wisdom, or righteousness to save ourselves, we would all be lost. That’s because everyone of an accountable age who has ever walked this earth has sinned (Rom. 3:23). Everyone, that is, except one man: Jesus.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (Jn. 3:16)

Jesus was not just a man, though. He is divine, one of three who together are called the one true God (along with the Father and the Holy Spirit). He left the glory of Heaven for a time, being subjected to the same human frailty and temptation as us, yet He faced all of it in perfect obedience and love, even to the point of death on the cross (Phil. 2:5-8; Heb. 4:15). As such, He alone is qualified to be our Lord, and His blood alone has the power to fully cleanse us from our sin and qualify us to gain entrance into the presence of God for eternity (Col. 1:12-18).
